World Language 101 for Administrators | Understand, Support, and Evaluate your World Language Program

$300.00

One Hour Session for School and District-based Administrators

How can administrators supervise, support, and evaluate world language instructors when they may have no background in the language being taught? World Language 101 for Administrators is the answer! In this session administrators will participate in research-based language-learning activities and will analyze how such activities support other areas of the curriculum and develop learners’ thinking skills. Participants will investigate national and state standards and current best-practices in world language instruction (including proficiency-based instruction and how ACTFL proficiency levels correlate to classes offered in school). Finally, administrators will learn what to look for in world language teacher observations and how to support their world language department through available state and national resources. World Language 101 is your starting point for effective collaboration with your world language teachers!

In this session, participants will:

  • Participate in language instruction activities and discuss how these activities support other areas of the curriculum

  • Investigate state and national world language standards and current best practices in language instruction

  • Discuss what to look for in world language teacher observations

  • Learn about state and national resources available to support language programs and staff
